Lovely Penguin

poetry, prose and randomness

funny story

by Marie Gordon

It started
When I knew
When I was sure

Lesbian girl
Praying for a
Hetero love

Catholic faith
Believing God
Trusting Him

Funny story
What I wished for
What I asked for

Silent thoughts drift
Over realities
Waiting, waiting

I suppose now
Because I did
Wait for that day

That I got it
Or maybe I
Believed I did

Funny story
But that’s enough
To satisfy

My truth isn’t
Hetero love
Homophobic

No tags on me
Not lesbian
Not hetero

I suppose now
That all along
It’s what I needed
